Painful UI

Dear Google, could you please hire some UX/UI designers to design your products. This app has won the trophy of horrible designs among all Ive downloaded so far. I cant even pass the set up page to add my number. Banging my head against the wall.
PS. With all due respect, engineers & software developers are not designers. Get your UX folks right!
