Closing off after About 30 seconds

I have been using Google Voice app for well over five years. Couple of versions ago it started shutting itself off after being open about 30 seconds. I am now using it on an iPhone sex with iOS 11.1.2. It is doing it again. When I am in the texting portion of the app, after the app is been open about 30 seconds it just closes. Makes usability very impaired.

If this bug is repaired, the app gets five stars
