Constant crashing during message composition

For the last few weeks now, I have to rewrite messages multiple times, as the app crashes mid-sentence. I’ve resorted to either writing messages in other apps and copy/pasting, or writing as much as I can and copy/paste as a backup as I go.
I do like that pic messages are now available, but the crashing part is a non-starter, especially since this is used as a work line.
