Is the mute option disabled?

I’ve been trying for a week to link my number to my Google voice account. Each time, a blue triangle appears next to my number. Doesn’t explain why there’s a blue triangle or how to fix the problem. Tried to delete number and go through the process again. Same Result. I’ve had my number for years and I’ve never tried getting Google voice account before this week. Please help

On iPhone 13 Pro, and my previous iPhone X, I’ve always had the same issue for more than 3 years now. Almost every time I open the app, it remains completely frozen for a solid 15-30 seconds before I can interact with it in any way. It’s that slow. Like, seriously - sit there right now and count one-one-thousand, two-one-thousand, etc and imagine waiting that long to be able to read or respond to any text or make a call every time you open the app. If you’re ok with that, then otherwise it’s an awesome app and you should go for it. The only workaround I’ve found is to manually swipe up and close the app, then relaunch every time I open it. Doing that still takes a while to load, but it’s faster than waiting for it to catch up. This has been going on for more than three years, consistently through multiple different phones, and multiple complete reinstalls of the OS and app on each phone. I honestly can’t believe they still haven’t fixed it. This is the third time I’ve left a review explaining this, and it’s been deleted both previous times.

This service, while seemingly a valuable resource, refuses to activate on any device I attempt. Since Google does not believe in customer service, there is no one I can contact to resolve my issue. No matter how many times I choose a number to connect, Google Voice refuses to link the VOIP number to my account and I can’t use this service. If I could give this no stars, I would.

I cannot stress how utterly useless this app is. I downloaded, redownloaded, restarted my phone. Used multiple email addresses connected to my Google account. I get an error every single time. Absolute garbage.

Why they log out every account and ask to add numbers on it since we’re using it before why all this

I needed a private number for helping customers at work, and it works pretty good, it takes a little getting used to it first, but I’ve come to find it easy to use. My biggest complaint is when I get a text message, there is no way to set an audible notification. Google says there is a way, but the notification option is not showing up for me for some reason. I have to keep checking my phone to see if I have a visible notification so I don’t miss important messages.

If your devs are too lazy to provide a real version history change log under What's New, I'll be too lazy to provide a real star rating. How many YEARS do we have to wait for that annoying call relay message before EVERY single voice call??? Why not make it an asynchronous message displayed above & behind the dial prompt? Why can't we attach videos? This app gets slower & slower even on a new phone and after restarting the phone. Scrolling to old conversations freezes the app between each batch of conversations. Some conversations freeze the app when opening them, seems like it may be related to threads with videos, but even after deleting the messages with videos, still locks up the app when opening the conversation.

Having zero success in getting this setup. Expected it be very easy and sorta intuitive. I keep trying to select an avail phone number, but nothing happens after that. Nice idea I guess but doesn’t work.

I’ve used this app for business purposes for years. Within the last couple of months, the calls DON’T come through and goes right to voicemail. Google please fix this.

Incoming calls for some reason have stopped. Don’t disturb is disabled and the ring is enabled on iPhone.

please stop with the verify your number. if i get voicemails to it everyday what else do i need to do to prove its in use? every other month get threats its going to expire and go to someone else..

This app is so laggy and bad it crashes so much it does not work

There’s no on screen or button combo to reject / decline an incoming call. You just have to let it ring. This is especially annoying when listening to audio which gets paused until it’s done ringing.

Watch out for these people. They will wipe your whole app, clean and clear your number, messages, voicemails or anything else you have through the app. Happened to me and it has also happened to many others after searching online. Also, there is nobody to contact when this happens other than a group forum. That is no more than a bunch of people with opinions or that experienced Google Voice before..

It won’t let me redeem my number. This is the worst experience I’ve ever had with a free phone app

Unhelpful instructions.. unable to select a phone number so I can’t use the app/ no options to link numbers.

It takes a long time from the moment you open the app until you’re able to send a message to load the app and is not productive because is delaying everything by 4-5 minutes approx, If you guys can fix that issue you guys will have a good app but at this moment is not.

Contact info just disappeared so I don't know who the contact on various conversations are - no way to add in-app and will not sync with other devices that do show the contact info!

Cause I looked up how to do a voicemail and it said open the google voice app so I did then it said to open the top left and click menu I saw none in my opinion it’s not that great no offense.

Why you wouldn’t have a simple sign out button on your app like you do on every single other Google service is beyond comprehension.

I sign up with google. I choose my number. When I try to move forward. It brings me back to sign in page. Now it says something went wrong every time I try to continue.

Horrible, wouldn’t allow me to select a number and getting a person on the phone to help at google is harder than putting a man on the moon. I suggest just using Textnow

Skype is shutting down so I tried this. 10 times more expensive than Skype (22c/min vs 2). To call you need to add credit. But you need to know that you should do it through the web, not the app. Nowhere that is written or hinted in the app. Wasn’t able to call Ukrainian mobile numbers - after hearing that it’s a google relay the call just drops. Tried multiple numbers. Only wasted minimum $10 credit for this..

I really love the app but I wish we could video call and send videos. More updates in the future?

I signup with my email and number, after I did choose a number, I’m not able to make calls to anyone.

Looks like an android oldest OS app. Lag and pause and so on … needs a lot of work if not a fresh new re doing of the app

probably the worst app I’ve ever seen compared to other messaging and phone apps Google voice app is antiquated in several years out of date, every time there’s an update I get excited and all it ever says is bug fixes obviously, we know it has several bugs. Please fire the developer and hire a new crew to make up-to-date modern stylish working Google voice app.

The Google Voice App for iPhone is absolutely terrible. Notifications work well but the app itself has a significant delay with displaying the messages. So many times I can only read the message in the notification until I have to constantly refresh the app to get the new messages to appear.

I keep trying to set up an account and I’ve been told 10x’s that the app is having issue try again. I guess I will use another app for what I need!

The ONLY way I found to disable this feature was by disabling sound in the iPhone (not GV) settings - notifications - voice - sound. But now I don’t get notification when a GV text arrives. Constant interruptions by GV automatically reading every text to me when they arrive almost made me delete the app until I found this so-so work around

They will deactivate your number without any notice. If you sent too many msg they will flag your account as spam if you don’t get response to your msg also flag your account as spam account. Save yourself pain of trying to retrieve you info

This shows up to people as potential spam, and every person who calls you gets a weird google voice memo. Completely defeats the purpose and not usable.

I used to use Google Voice a long time ago. Seems as though it can no longer attach a Google Voice number, so it just doesn’t work.

Latest iOS version bricks BT calls. Same happened w/the latest Android version, running on Android 12, months ago

I got this app when I was doing virtual school and had meeting with my teachers. When I finished and went back to public school, it just keeps giving me spam calls and won’t let me delete the app.

Ok, so since Valentine’s day I’ve been receiving calls & texts from random, stranger danger #s and had no idea why. Suddenly, one of the texts mentioned a site or app called Minglepost which is apparently a replacement for “BackPage” & a source for locating escorts in certain areas. I had never been to or even heard of that site, let alone taken time out of my day to offer my services as an escort. I barely like men I know, so, bringing in ones I don’t know doesn’t seem like the best idea for me. Then, I noticed the calls and texts were only coming through my voice #. I contacted Minglepost multiple times requesting that my info be removed and to know how they got it. The email for Minglepost support is a Gmail account. They never responded. Next, I emailed Google since these issues seemed to be linked to their products. They never responded either. Another indicator of Google entanglement is that these ppl were making reference to a screen name I only have listed on Google. So, at this point I don’t know what’s posted, whether there are pics, the origin of this invasion of privacy, or anything else other than the fact that I’ll be filing complaints with the FTC & perhaps they’ll do better than I did in getting answers or simply a response.

Works good but won’t give me new numbers

I really enjoyed Google voice for many years. Lately, the app won’t work when I’m outside the US.

When you’re on a voice call and select the output, the default is phone and the second option is speaker. Once you select speaker it changes to phone so phone is listed twice. When you open the menu to switch back they both say phone.

This app is becoming useless with his rubbish policies

I’ve been using this app for years now as a second line for my business. I’ve been pretty happy with it, except for the inability to send videos via text. No big. But, recently, texts I send that include links aren’t being delivered to my clients, making it look like I’m ignoring them! I’m Not sure what the issue or the fix is, but it may result in me moving to another app for this.
