Google Voice App Reviews

While a great idea in concept, as I was experimenting with the app, I lost the ability to forward to my original number. If you set up more than two accounts, googlevoice will initiate a failsafe that will PERMANENTLY prevent you using your forwarding number. There’s NO warning provided to users about this before setting up the account. Essentially, if you attempt to create more than two accounts, google will prevent you from using your cell number - EVER AGAIN. Absolutely ridiculous.

An iPhone user isn’t receiving my picture texts. An Android user receives my texts broken up into multiple texts and missing the first letter of the first word in each text. This needs to be fixed ASAP!!! This has been happening since Sunday, March 18th!!!

Been using since it was Grand Central. Glad to see they finally support SMS but the app is still clunky. I get a lot of spam calls but I can only mark them as spam if I use a desktop browser, I should be able to do this from my phone. Would be nice if they also had a feature for reporting numbers as I am on the do not call list.

I use GV for work because I dont need my main number given out. It would be nice to be able to delete messages or numbers without having to archive. It would also be helpful to be able to add a contact within the app rather than logging on to computer. I also agree with another user that it would be nice for a distinctive tone. Without being able to save numbers within the app, if its a number I dont recognize.....I wont answer. Which is not good for business.

Pictures do not actually send over to the recipient! Even though pictures show as sent they do not actually go through.

Google is usually so easy to use, across other platforms. However, this is a ridiculously difficult app to use. It takes four individual steps just to delete a call or message! You should simply be able to swipe, left or right, to get rid of it. What is google trying to do? Prevent you from getting rid of your clutter?

I’ve come to believe that the app is bad on purpose. They ought to open up a solid API that would allow a third party to write a real app. This one is crap.

Installed latest update running iOS 10.0 now it crashes on startup. SAME ISSUE WITH CHROME!!!!

I’m not receiving calls. I don’t understand. There are people who I don’t want to have my number and next thing I know I’m missing all these calls. What’s going on?

Having keypad sounds is a given in any phone app, but not GV. Awhile back when you redesigned your app and changed the logo the touch-tone dialing sound was removed. There is no touch-tone audio feedback when hitting the number keys. It’s very frustrating and causes me to misdial frequently. Please bring back the touch-tone audio dialing.

Love this app. Please update to allow IOS google voice users to select from various albums when looking for an attachment. This feature is available on google hangouts.

It’s very frustrating and causes me to misdial frequently. Please bring back the touch-tone audio dialing. Also, dialing numbers is hit or miss. Sometimes the number keys acknowledge being pressed and other times not so much or pressing a number key one time results in two or three of the same number. I often find myself hitting the backspace key and attempting to dial the number repeatedly. What has gone wrong with this app. I feel like it has a mind of its own.

Hi please fix this app. I used to be able to send photos from my camera roll and after the last update it no longer works. I use this for my business so its really inconvenient that i cant send photos anymore Thanks

Free SMS/Text capability for an American living overseas. Unfortunately, I cant use voice call since Im not in the US. Still, no complaints for a free app that allows me to text with any US cell

Love google voice. Use it daily. Needs work though. Major issue with this version closed after 30 seconds on iPhone X. Just totally closes app. Major bummer. App is broken.

I am a manager at my job and Google Voice is a must have. Due to my position I have I have to give my contact to many people. This helps me to keep my personal number private. I have records of my text in email form. The list of benefits goes on and on..

I use this app for business but I’m not super impressed. I don’t like the fact that you can’t tell who is calling you, or even when you have a missed call it doesn’t show recent call history. Their need to be a easier way to access and save contacts, and a better voice messaging system.

Messages (including photos that take up the bottom of the convo, so that you have to scroll up to see new messages) hung in "Sending..." status cannot be removed. You have to delete the app and reinstall to remove them. Also, the app will only link your phone if youre using a US number. Though I did pay to Port my US number in order to keep it, and am glad to be able to (most of the time) make calls to the US, Im glad Im not paying for Google Voice...its app, site, and capabilities are poorly designed and implemented. A bit shocking, coming from Google! Again, Im glad its free, because theres no way Id pay more than a few dollars a month to use it.
