Google Voice App Reviews

When using google voice for messaging, unless I shut it down and restart, the return texts from others will not show up. I can wait hours and nothing ever comes back to me unless google voice is shut down and restarted. Any suggestions?

Update from 11/19/17 failed again - can’t use this app - crashing every second same way it did few months ago , GV team have to do a better QA before releasing updates !!! 10/2017-Finally issue with constant crashes fixed , back to 5 starts again - good job GV dev. Team. ......New issue as of October 2017 , IOS app crashes multiple times every time you are trying to reply to a text message. All OLD message showing up in inbox folder, they all used to be in archive folder before this update , now all my messages and missed calls for the past 5-7 years showing up in main/inbox folder and it would take me probably 3-5 days to move it back to archive Google have to issue update to fix this issue !

They made it harder to delete messages. You no longer can push and hold on a conversation to get a delete button. You can only do that to "archive" it. To delete it, you now have to go into the conversation, tap the "..." button and then tap the "Delete" button...and then hit yes on the confirmation button. This is way too many steps just to delete some messages. It seriously slows down the work flow of the app. Fix that and my rating goes much higher.

Was hopeful the latest would address the issues, look like no improvement, in fact now it locks up and the app has to be closed. Let’s get the bugs out before new features? —/ The app fails to notify you if you have a new message about 50 % of the time. No sound, nothing. You have to constantly refresh the app to see if anybody’s responded to you. I’ve tried closing the app and also resetting the phone none of which help. If you try to go back and follow your text message conversations they are out of order you can’t tell what reply because with what incoming text message you had. Appears that the app is cashing your responses as you will see those responses pop up randomly and your text stream. Makes it totally unusable for documentation or even a quick review of what’s been said. App crashes on a regular basis, often several times a day. I’ve been a Google Voice user for years it’s a great application when it works. —- Cant wait for apple to approve the new version. Will update review the review when they do. ----- Window disappears almost every time you open it. Cant log out due to the settings window crashing. Do not download.

Updated Again 11/18/2017 the BUG IS BACK!!!! I just updated to the latest version and it is now crashing after 20 seconds again...seriously?! COME ON GOOGLE?!?! Updated Review: 11/8/17 they put out an app update and fixed the issue!! I’m changing my one star rating back to 4 stars!! Thanks Google! Old Review: The app Crashes after being open for about 30 seconds EVERY SINGLE TIME! And it also makes my iPhone get HOT when using the app!!!

I’ve changed phone numbers a lot over the years but have only had to give one number out publicly in all that time - my Google Voice number to which all of the changing numbers are tied. I can set my contacts up into groups and set up special answering messages for each, as well as set whether I want to receive a ring or send it straight to voice mail. This is an incredibly powerful too.

Every update I used to wonder if we were going to get voip support back since Google moved Google Voice off hangouts. CallKit powered Google Voice VOIP is a thing I’ve longed for for over a year. Now every update I hope the app will fill the screen on my iPhone X. Maybe in a years time I’ll give up on that too?

I have no idea why Google refuses to allow this app to use VoIP. Why is it in dead hangouts but not on this app? Does Google have any idea how incredibly archaic it is to have a server call you when someone calls your Google Voice number? Come on Google, add VoIP or take the app off the App Store.

Best part of Google Voice is that it makes it easy to carry multiple phones. Communicate like a dealer or a player!

Works wonderfully

Notifications really are not well handled in this app. When you receive a notification you are dropped into the notification but the badge and the app doesnt handle this action, to dismiss the badge you must exit the message and drill down into it a second time. Notifications syncing is worse than any other app Ive used. SiriKit integration missing, so you cant say Siri send a google voice message to contact. Oops! This could have really given the app much wanted integration. GoogleVoice works well but I miss the favorites / quick calls menu already and you cant ask Siri to use google voice to dial a contact :( so much potential!

Ive been using GV since Oct.2010 & while some improvements were good/needed (group txt, pic txt). They decided to remove 1-click to call (or 5 speed dial #s), calling thru the app. Since they went to this newer format/skin..Ive gotten more "msg failed to send" than ever before. I keep reading about the app crashing during txts..which is a reason why I havent updated. Its abundantly clear that Google & Apple are not working together on this app..otherwise pic & video txt wouldve never been issue..since we live in a sharing age now.

I wish they would update for the iPhone X screen size...

I’m using the iPhone X and this app is currently very annoying to look at, especially with the black bars on top and bottom. I like using his app so please incorporate this fix for iPhone X screen optimization. Thank you.
