Google Voice App Reviews

I don’t know

Don’t get this app if you’re getting it for your own phone number. If u do then you won’t like this app at all. It’s a good texting app tho. But I don’t like it that much

Wonderful tool

I’ve been using Google Voice for over 8 years now and find it to be a perfect solution for somebody who travels a lot for work and pleasure. In addition to use land lines wherever I go, the transcript service works very well and the texting capability is also great. This and GMail make me a loyal Google fan.

Better apps

I downloaded this app because I use gmail for emailing and because it was free. I guess you get what you pay for. I hate that it does not ring through the app. I only get phone calls through when I link incoming calls to my personal number. The down side to this is I have no way of knowing if an unsaved number is dialing my personal number or the google number, and who wants to answer unknown numbers calling their personal cell? Just not as well programmed as I thought.

App Is Terrible on iPhone X

I don’t know why this app now crashes consistently. It used to be reliable and stable. It’s garbage now.

Legacy SO much better than update

The ease and availability of functions on the legacy site is decades ahead of the most recent “update.” Without Legacy, GV would be unusable.

Never signed in

I use this for work, and recently it has been signing me out when I should be signed in. This is probably why I have been missing some calls I should have received. It used to be good, but lately the updates are bore like “back dates.” Longing for the GV of long ago...

Is google voice still a thing?

The app seemingly gets no support or updates, and seems slightly less useful than when I first got it. I really wish that for a fee, I could make calls over voip, or forward calls to my non- US number.

What used to be good is now unusable.

When Google first released Google Voice to iOS and before Hangouts was created, it worked. Now, it dials the wrong number or tries to dial a VOIP number forwarding call for the iPhone or it dials the linked number associated with the Google Voice account when used in the iPad. I really dont know whats wrong with Google after becoming famous for their search engine and the Chrome browser. A lot of their apps currently have usability issues, including their Chrome browser. Google Voice was so nice before, especially when using it with Chrome on the desktop and a Google Number. Now, you need Hangouts to dial out. Talk about ruining a good thing.

Google Voice is excellent

But Legacy Google Voice is much better!!!

Not user friendly

This app is not user friendly. It’s not intuitive when adding contacts and phone numbers, and I had to search to figure out to do the most simple functions on this app. You also cannot edit contacts after you’ve added them. I accidentally typed someone’s name wrong in my phone, and now it will forever be incorrect. You can use this app on your phone or computer. However, when I make changes from my computer (ie read a text, check a voicemail etc), it does not update on my phone. So I have to go in and re-read all the texts and voicemail transcriptions twice. It’s just a clunky app in general, which is surprising for google. I will be typing a text or a phone number, and it won’t be able to keep up with speed of my typing. It will miss numbers, just leave things blank, and I need to go back and retype things very often. I only use this app out of necessity for work. It’s nice because I can contact people without using my personal phone number. Other than that, I would not recommend.

Frequently freezes and crashes.

Wonderful Service App needs improvement

I have been using google voice since it was Grand Central. I don’t even give out my cell number anymore. The service is unsurpassable for managing communications volume. A feature that need to be restored is the ability to initiate a call from any phone rather than just linked phones. Another feature that needs to be restored is the control over the way calls are routed for each group. Today you must launch Legacy Google Voice to use those features. Another feature that needs to be restored is the ability to mass select messages for deletion. Another feature that needs to be restored is the ability to delete groups. A new feature that is needed is the ability to delete circles and disable most contacted. In the app, the delete option should be easier to locate. I know when I want to archive and when I want to delete. I highly recommend the service and the app nonetheless.

Crashes on iPhone and sending pics works 50%

GV used to work well about 80-90% of the time. With the recent iOS updates, it now crashes daily (was crashing every time for a month or so) especially sending/reading messages. Sending pics works about 1/2 the time. I was an original beta user and don’t understand how things have gotten worse!! I’ve thought about giving up more times than I can remember now. Good thing my life doesn’t depend on this app!

Keeps crashing while texting! Annoying!!!!

The new update says that it fixed the bugs. It didn’t!! This keeps crashing while texting. It’s impossible to even hear voicemails because it crashes in less than a minute open. Please update, please, please, please!

God sent!!!!

This App and it’s continuous updates is a life changer. Has helped me to operate my business seamlessly.

Best ever

Cant beat google voice

Glitchy and limited

But it’s better than nothing.

I love this app

I hope you are a kid. Because you can use this app if you can’t call or text somebody. Awesome app!!! Come come. You can text your aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. And mom dad.

Literally the worst app ever ?

I am so angry because this app sends regular texts to my inbox so I lose messages and calls constantly. Its like a black hole I cant uninstall. You can try to delete the app, but this stupid app will continue sending your messages to your inbox. Its impossible. Dont make the mistake of installing it ???

Two steps forward, and three steps back

I’ve been a big advocate of Google Voice back to when I started using it when it was known as Grand Central... Regrettably, when the big update added some great new features, it also eliminated some essential legacy features. The mobile GV app no longer lets you choose which phone to complete a call on — that is, if you have a poor cell signal, but great WiFi, you would want to have the App ring your LandLine, but that feature is gone, as is the option to “Remember this choice”. This significantly degraded the usefulness of GV, so I revert to the Legacy version, which does not allow Texting photos, or long Texts... SIGH
