Google Voice App Reviews

In general its been ok but for some reason the app wont let me access my dial functions. It only directs me to select a new number. So I cant dial out or get texts. I use the GV for business - so its a major inconvenience. And if course with most things Google there is no tech support.

Last week the app wouldnt even let me open it. A whole week it didnt work. Today I was told I was being sent 10 texts - but they never showed up nor in my email. Google - if the app is going to be this bad - and in the month of August it has gotten much worse - why even have it?

With so much money they should be able to put out an app that doesnt feel like a high school experiment. It boggles my mind how all their resources gives them no edge on a couple of programmers in their basement.

I have a number set up but Im unable to make calls. I had to set up my Google Voice using another number because google thinks my original phone number is international although my country is US territory. Whats the sense of getting another number if I cant use the app with my own number to forward the calls???

This new version is slow and buggy and limited. Its like you want to turn customers off. I already switched to office 365, and got an iPhone. Looks like the Next things to go will be google music and google voice too. Google is the new Microsoft.

I dont use this very often, but when I do, it works just fine. I mostly use it to call international.

Calls are hard to hear, and dont come through. App keeps crashing and sometimes stops working.

I have used Google voice plenty of times on my old Android device and it worked seamlessly as if it were a regular phone call. However, upon switching to an iPhone and trying to use Google Voice, a lot of the features on the app really buggy. One of the main things is when you make a call, and youre required to use the keypad to make an option selection, the keypad wont appear, and when it does, the entire screen freezes and you cant do anything but hang up and try again and again. Quite frustrating

Horrible - texts take forever to load, calls never go through - they always go straight to VM. I expect more from google

Its cool that Google finally added new features but the app performance is absolute trash. Better to just use the website.

I thought I was happy to get MMS and group text support, but I would happily give those up to get the old app back. This newest version is slow to navigate, and extremely slow to update the list of text messages, why cant it sync the messages when it gets notified of a new message, why does it show a new message notification in the banner and app icon, but it waits until I open the app to synchronize, while I wait? Notifications are unreliable, and Missed Calls rarely show up in the Calls list. You get what you pay for I guess.

Does not mark messages read when viewing them. Forces me to view them twice.

Used Google Voice almost from its inception. It was a great app that allowed me to text, and to use a secondary phone number as my "business number". It was fast and responsive and reliable. And then they decided to overhaul its interface. What a disaster. It might be aesthetically more pleasing but it is maddeningly slow, clunky and prone to crashes. And too often when folks call my phone doesnt ring! What a way to ruin a good thing. Please fix this, Google.

In the end, You just want it to work. Most of my conversation on this thing I get the other persons texts up to 15 minutes after they sent them to me. Crap crap crap. At least WhatsApp works.

The Google Voice service is great, but this new version of the iOS app is HORRIBLE. Slow, glitchy, and where the f*** has the History button gone? Thankfully, GV Connect works decently, because Googles own iOS Google Voice app is garbage. Its hard to understand how a large company like Google can produce such a substandard app. -- R Carlson MD

I mean, google voice is a great service, but this app is horrible.

Its a pretty good app, however some improvements would result in a better quality app. For example, theres a problem where when im texting someone, it keeps it unread, even though im in the chat or just opened the message. It also has my text messages marked as unread even though i wrote it. Another fault (at least on an ipad) is when using a bluetooth keyboard, the predictive/autocorrect bar blocks the last message/messages.
