This app is pretty decent and its nice to see Google investing in Voice again. The app is slow though and takes forever to initiate the sync with Google Voice and pull down new messages. It needs some serious speed tuning...

Please use the crash reports sent multiple times a day to prevent this app from crashing so much. Thanks!

Just realized that there was a major redesign and its back to its former glory. While everything isnt perfect I finally can use all the features that were missing before. Looks good i guess i will atop using hangouts.

I love Google Voice for its accessibility when I use it for work. The fact that I can have one device with two numbers is very efficient. The one thing I wish I could do is put a signature on the end of my text messages just like at the end of an email. This would really be effective when sending clients reminder texts for appointments. Please make this happen Google!

The app is Ok, but its almost always badged with an unread notification. Even if I open the app, switch to a conversation, and reply, it still might consider the conversation unread. I find myself constantly opening it and tapping through conversations just to clear the unread bit.

I have recently started making calls through my GV number. When I dial a number from my contact using GV app it does not show the contact name or number. Instead of contact name its providing a random number to be displayed on my screen. Other phones like android have option under setting called "outgoing call" sth like that. But google voice app for Iphone does not have that option. Is there anyway I can set this app in that way it shows actual contact name I am dialing to?

Interface and alerts need a lot of work. Why does it alert me to my own message?? Also, need Apple Watch notification ability. Great service, cruddy app. COME ON GOOGLE!!

Crashes constantly, interface is glitchy, texts often just fail to send for no reason. Its a joke, but sadly there arent really any other options if you want to do what Google Voice can do.

A real pain to use because the interface is constantly lagging and you have to click things a few times just to get a response. Please fix.

You must optimize for speed! It literally takes 7 to 8 full seconds just to go from page to page. We dont all have the absolute latest phone so you must test with slower phones too.

gvoice is excellent but the mobile app is crap. desktop version is not accessible from phone or pad. i have to use a computer for full functionality.

I dont write app reviews, but Im so frustrated by this big bang version I feel I must weigh in. A Material Design skin does not an app make! Although I disliked the pre-Marerial version for its rather sad user interface and that it was essentially neglected for years, the new version is utterly UNUSABLE. It is plagued with usability, functional and performance issues. Was this even tested on device(s)? I even restored my iPhone 5s to factory settings to make sure it wasnt my hardware. It was not. Whats really sad is that an engineering driven company such as Google let this go out. Im seeking an alternative for my Google voice number. Apple ignoring hardware, Google ignoring software. Whats next? For all the growth UX/Product design has seen, most apps/platforms are still essentially user rage factories. Do better!

I do a lot of texting on my Google Voice and I miss messages all the time because the app doesnt provide notifications consistently. When you do open a text, it often doesnt mark as read until you open it a certain way (go back to list of messages, click that message again, scroll to refresh). It is also impossible to add a contact when you get a new number. Pressing "Add to contacts" does nothing. Because of these things, its unreliable. Im surprised that this is a Google product. Update: This app has gotten worse. Updated review to 1 star. Its crashing constantly and notifications have gotten worse. Im on the lookout for a good third party replacement.

If coming from push notification to read new text, it doesnt mark that message as read. Instead I had to go to main list and explicitly tap the row to do so.

How many times do I have to tap something before it responds?

None of my outgoing messages were sent today. Horrible app. Try again, Google.

Ive used this app on android for years with no problems. Just switched to iPhone and the UI freezes often for about 2-5 seconds. I hope an update fixes this issue soon. Great app otherwise.

It was always a little bit jerky but it downright stinks now. Once I open the app it takes too long before I can use it and it takes too long to respond to my inputs. Overall it really stinks. But its just this latest version. It wasnt always this bad.

This is not trivial to me. I have built a communications network for my small business based on the quality of the old google voice and the new version is so bad I sometimes cant even place a call with it! It is painfully slow--like it takes minutes, not seconds to switch tabs. I am having trouble responding to clients as a result. This is the worst development I have ever seen in a Google product and its causing me head aches. I feel trapped. Unhappy.

With the latest update it has taken away my ability to make any outgoing calls. I cant make calls from my recents by clicking "call xxx-xxx-xxxx" nor does manually entering the number work. The interface is extremely slow which is annoying. No reason to continue using it until they fix it.
