• bring quick dial back • cant dial numbers with extensions shortcuts (i.e. 555-555-5555,6) • cant dial from group messages. It seems that initiating a text or call from a group thread would be a no brainer… • the performance of this app is the worst of any apps (I have over a hundred) — its ok on my phone, but on my wifes phone its intolerable … I kid you not there are 5 sec lag times

This version is buggy, if a picture fails to send, it gets stuck and you cant resend or get rid of it, but it still shows up in the convo, so you miss any new messages unless you scroll back before the stuck pictures. Please fix! Inbound calls are free on my plan, so the old click to call was great. Now theyve taken it away, which is costing me quite a bit. Please bring back click-to-call!

This new update makes the app just lag. It takes forever to update a text let alone write one. I work in the basement of the hospital with no reception and Google Voice was my only to contact people. Before the update it was quick and I got the messages and was able to load them no problem. New update message gets stuck app restarts or it takes 10 times longer for anything to load. Now I have use a third party app for voice. Get your act together!

Overall I love this app, I find it reliable and calls are great. What I would love to see in the next update is: 1. An automated text msg response when in do not disturb mode. 2. I want to know if someone is calling google voice number or my personal. 3. When I press decline, I want the caller to hear my google voicemail not my personal.

When checking messages takes a wile to load and you cant select all delete, you have to delete one by one and takes a wile to even delete one missed call, also if you go on an apple computer to their website you dont have an option for recording new greetings unless you click on legacy and even though you have an option for recording new greetings on the old version you cant record new greetings or even listen to to them because audio button does not load ( work) you get no sound whats so ever.

The new app: • is laggy while the old one was responsive • no longer has a favorites list • prompts if I want to make a call each time I hit dial while the old one didnt.

I appreciate the long-needed MMS support and conversation view. However its so painfully slow on my iPhone 5s. Having to wait 3-5 seconds to switch between text messages and voicemails is unacceptable.

Ive been using GV for a long time. Very happy with version 1 but with version 2.5 Ive lost my patience. Its great that it has the photo feature and stuff but what I want is an app that responds quickly. It can take up to 20 seconds sometimes when switching tabs to view texts or voicemails. There has been no update to correct this. iMessages is so much faster. Sad thing for me is that I have my number ported to Google and now have to switch it back to my phone carrier.

Google redesigned the GUI. Where is Click2Call? My other main complaints is the settings page is now hidden in a menu. Thus accessing options like turning on call forwarding, selecting a #, using Do Not Disturb are hard to find and takes many finger clicks to get to. Horrible. The previous 1.x versions GUI design was perfect.

One time I tried to listen to voice mail and it kept playing the previous voice mail. Most of the time there will be a badge notification on the app icon and even though I have viewed it it is annoyingly still there. I have to pull out of the message, then go back to it a few times before the badge is updated and would disappear.

Almost every message still shows unread after I open it. When in conversation window and getting new message it doesnt auto scroll or give any indication theres a new message below. Overall feels laggy compared to iMessage. Usually Google apps are very good on iOS, I guess this is an exception. Fix please.

Im rather floored by all the negative reviews. Ive been using GV for years (and over 100,000 text messages) & never had an issue. On a rare occasion, its a little slow...but thats it. Otherwise, it works flawlessly and best of all...its free. Moreover, it consistently performs better in my extensive use than most paid 2nd phone number apps such as Sideline or Line2.

App freezes & will not activate . Does not work.

I was a user fo google voice during its dark ages (before the major app and interface overhaul in January 2017) and I stuck it out all that time. For the most part, I am glad the app has improved for the better and the new bells and whistles are welcomed. However, the app engineers are making the simplest of functions in this app very tedious and unnecessary. Two major examples: 1. Deleting a message thread is a FIVE step process. Why cant it be a simple swipe left, plus confirm to delete? Currently, we have to open the message in the conversation thread, click the three horizontal dots for settings, select delete, be warned if "are you sure you want to permanently delete?" then finally are able to click delete. Five steps just to delete a text message. Seriously? Such a waste of time. 2. We know that when a user dials a number out of google voice, the system automatically converts the number you dial into an alternate access number. This we know and the user has no control over it. Its just the way google voice works. However, after you dial the number to call and the app converts it to the access number, the app will still ask you "call XXX-XXX-XXXX?" (the access number) even though the user will not be able to make a call without clicking ok. Why bother asking this nonsensical question EVERY SINGLE TIME we dial, when we dont have any other option to dial out? Again, an absolute waste of time. The engineers of this app must realize that this is a messaging and calling app, nothing more. Messaging and calling should be cake, not complicated. I recommend that they study and emulate the simplicity that is iMessage and WhatsApp. They are making the simplest of tasks aggravating and a turn off while using the app. If it wasnt for the fact that my google voice number is in the business card of a small business venture I have, Id have gotten rid of this app and service a long time ago. D- and I dont recommend it unless you already have a google voice number that you need for one reason or another.

Hard to clean the old history

Here I am after three big years to update my review from one star to four stars. I gave four stars because since my last review three yrs ago a lot of things improved like texting, attaching picture files and voice-mail etc. These are a big change thanks google keep it up. For future updates wish to see video call like other apps do. Also wish to see in app purchase for long distance call. If I see these updates will promise to come back and add the 5th star. ?

While using this app, one will wonder is this something Google developed. I mainly use for cheap rates to make India call but I have to tolerate- 1. Recorded message on price I have to hear each time I have to make same destination call. 2. Accessing phone book is so pathetic with such a small window of contacts first appear and difficult in maximizing it. Vonage had a nice mobile app but cost is high and google has bad app for cheap price - may have to live with this trade off.

Google loves to change things; most times when they do, its for the worse (like this update). For example, it used to place calls by calling you, but now you have to call some weird number and that completes the call. At first pass this looks to be easier, but one of the problems is that it doesnt show your outgoing caller ID number at the other end anymore, so if the receiving party is blocking anonymous calls, you get blocked (and theres no way to unblock it). And even if the other party isnt blocking, they still dont know whos calling, so may not pick up. And they also cant easily capture your phone number, if you want them to have it. This is made the phone feature of this app almost useless to me. Its only good for texting anymore. (I bet theyre working on a way to break that too.) Google has always sucked at UI, and probably always will.

The new google voicemail app is terrible. I loved the old one and have been using for many years. Old app was very user friendly. Sure hope they fix it soon!
