Google Voice App Reviews

Reliable

Im a recruiter and get heavy use out of this second line when I communicate with my candidates via text and over the phone. Great product.

Handy for small business

I recently got google voice so I could text clients about their finished orders. My only complaint is I wish it had the option of a stand alone contact list. I don’t want to fill my phone’s list with client info.

Love the service but my app keeps crashing mid-text!!!

Please fix this, google!! ?????

Just started to crash after iOS 11

Since last update 2 weeks ago. It started to crash in the middle of responding to text messages. Worked great before. Please contact me if you have any questions.

Constantly crashes!

It constantly crashes now. Almost unusable.

Keeps crashing

This app use to work well until the last update. It crashes every time I attempt to read or send a text message. Fix this Google.

Good, but DOES crash & lacks user design attention

I have been using it for couple years now. Like the integration w/my Google email, etc. BUT, latest version seems to crash w/in 15-20 seconds whenever I try to create a text to send. I think the split personality between Google Voice & Hangouts is confusing. I prefer the GV interface for communication, its simpler; and I think the voice call quality is better (probably because it requires calling out via your cell number; Hangouts allows calls via wifi or data connection.) BUT -- the GV app really does need a comprehensive design makeover. It doesnt have an option to group messages, its confusing & cumbersome to delete messages (and its different from Hangouts cumbersome system), it doesnt have a way to mark messages you want to come back to, etc. In other words, its potential as an effective and desirable voice&text communication app is squandered by what seems to a design-by-techheads -- user friendliness is not in their consciousness. And boy does it show. (Hangouts, for what its worth, seems more bent on trying to be the cool app; its shortcoming are similar but it leans more heavily on texting side, I think.) Wow. GV could be great. I cant figure out whos got the brain block at Google to explain why it falls so short..

Connectivity on all devices

At times a bit clunky, but in general it works well to provide one number across multiple devices / platforms.

Good service. Buggy app

The Google Voice service is great. Being able to keep an old number with a new phone without subscription fees is wonderful. The app itself, however, has many issues. The argument that Google developers pay no attention to iOS apps comes to mind. Recent updates have made it harder to find “favorite” contacts to call/text (a “favorites” list no longer exists afaik). There’s also new bugs. Crashes are common while doing simple things like writing a text message (I find myself typing the message elsewhere so I can copy/paste on the app before it crashes) These may be related to ios11 updates, but most other developers have issued updates to their apps on recent weeks.

Awful Update

The current GV update is soooo slow to respond and display messages or anything, it drives me crazy. It is also unintuitive. Bring back the old version or fix this piece of garbage!!! Google just keeps making things worse! Now the app crashes every 5 uses!! What a piece of garbage.

Great app

Reliable love using this app very good would recommend

Horrendously unstable

Look, Voice is a great service. You should sign up for it. But this app is terrible. It crashes literally every time I open a notification. I am not misusing literally: it is every single time. I have to clear the notification manually and open the app from its icon. I’m on the most recent iOS, so I can’t begin to understand how this was released in such a state.

Use to love it?

This is the only app that I’ve had problems with since the latest IPhone update. Constantly dies before I can push send for a text. I pray I’m not missing any calls or texts as I use this specifically for business. When will they fix it? Is there a better app out there for google voice? I loved this app before and used it everyday. I can’t believe how they screwed it up.

All OLD message showing up in inbox folder

New issue as of October 2017 , IOS app crashes multiple times every time you are trying to reply to a text message. All OLD message showing up in inbox folder, they all used to be in archive folder before this update , now all my messages and missed calls for the past 5-7 years showing up in main/inbox folder and it would take me probably 3-5 days to move it back to archive Google have to issue update to fix this issue !

Need to be fixed keeps force closing after iOS update SO FRUSTRATING!

Cannot text anymore since iOS update, keeps force closing and deletes text you have written, makes app total useless unless they fix

Credit added issue

I like it i can call my family easily. It’s created Specific number for each family member. Olny issue I can not added credit through app. Every time I need to go to their website order the added credit.

Bad app

Cannot call to any number using the app! Why we have to be called by another number? Why not just call from the Google voice number!!!

Crashes and locked screen

I use my Google Voice number as my "work mobile" number. The iOS app crashes way too frequently - especially during text messages. It also often does not respond to my touch when I try to tap "call ###-###-####" or try to play a message.

Its free, but...

Google voice is a free app that allows you to have an extra number on your phone. It is very useful when you many to make and receive calls. Its use for messaging is very limited: it turns itself off at the worse possible moment, it is very slow to send and receive messages, and the attachments you send are sometimes not received on the other end, without letting you know about it. There are other apps that do the same thing a lot better, only that you have to pay for them. But, when something sounds too good to be true...

Good solid app

Great app for a single number that does it all for phone forwarding, voicemail transcription, text to email, and right bonding with your cell.
