I really like the service, but this app now crashes all the time. I would pay $20 for the app and a reasonable monthly if they would just get fully behind this app and service.
Google Voice App Reviews
The absolute worst. Period.
Where to begin? I had hangouts and then it told me to upgrade to Google Voice because initiating a text using my google voice number on hangouts was near impossible. Then after switching to the Google Voice App it doesnt transfer my old Hangouts chats (really, how hard could it be?). Then theres a bug where you get an icon badge enumerating unread messages, you open the app, tap on the conversation, exit the app only to find the badge still displaying, then you have to repeat the process so the badge disappears. And now I cant swap over to Hangouts because...? Who knows! Fail fail fail. Hate this app.
Love the GV service, Hate the non-responsive app
The GV service - and web version - is feature rich and powerful. Love it and thank you! However, your iOS app dev team needs an overhaul. The iOS app is horrid: non-responsive interface, notifications that work 25% of the time, etc. The biggest issue with your latest bug fix is it takes 3 minutes to get into the app and read a message. Oh. And the app doesnt mark it read still! Please ask the QA team to return to work because Im feeling they have taken the summer off.
1000x better on android...
The app is glitchy and yes, it looks like the android version but putting them side by side makes you notice everything wrong with it. Switching between messages, dialer and voicemail tabs is laggy and can crash the app but my pet freakin peeve is when you read a message and it doesnt register that youve read it. So you go back into it and open it. It still wont register the message as read. You have open the message, back out and go back in 3 times before it will register the message as read. Really annoying. Although the functionality is there, the bugs make it a headache and I end up using my galaxy to check any activity because the iOS version is just too glitchy.
Slow and not responsive
The app offers all functionality: text, voice call, voice mail, etc. but the interface is very slow in response. The keypad is very slow and failing numbers is a three step process. Somewhat frustrating to use the app. The only I keep on using it is because it offerS US/Canada calls.
Not very good
Crashes often. Unable to customize colors, tones, etc. Pictures rarely work.
No Longer Works
I can no longer send pictures and the constant crashing is really getting annoying. It has worked beautifully for years until now.
Call Logs and outbound caller ID useless
When making a call, the ID on my iPhone 7 only displays Googles routing phone number, not the person I am trying to call. In the phones call log, again only the fake Google number appears. Same usage on my Samsung Galaxy works the opposite as one would expect only displaying the intended partys information. Fix this.
Extremely laggy
Guys, youre a $600B company. This is unacceptable.
Login issues!!!
What happened Google? Massive login issues. Since last update the App keeps asking for and rejecting my login credentials even though Im logged in! Uninstalling, rebooting and reinstalling doesnt fix it at all. Ugghhh!!
Calling app is so outdated
The call quality is very good but the app itself is very old... why doesnt the app have one touch calling option ... Why do I have to always go and wait till it goes to couple of touches before actual call
Still love Google Voice buuut...
How can you have a texting app that doesnt actually handle texts very well? Really, the refreshing and read/unread issues are major problems that have been there since the major update earlier this year. I hope theyre working on it but it seems like the team is fixing minor issues while ignoring the elephant in the room.
Updated UI is a plus but laggy service
The old UI was ancient looking but had fast usability. This one flips it for better and for worse. Everything seems slow unlike the snappiness of the previous version. The "cannot connect to Google" bug was fixed with the last update but now texts appear in random order and I cant send an emoji.
Finally...
Been using google voice for yearssssssss now Ive been waiting on picture messages forever. But where has the hold delete option gone. I do not want to see text messages from years ago in my thread. Having to go into the message and delete every individual text is crazy. Other than that I actually really like this update. You added reply option to the notifications but it doesnt work 99% of the time. Thinking I replied to a message only to look an hour lately and message says failed.
Slowest app ever!
This is the slowest app ever!! Each tap takes at least 2-3 seconds to process. What the ef? The voice quality of international calls leaves much to be desirable.
Good, but should be better
Notifications are completely screwed up. The badge number doesnt change when something is read, you have to refresh multiple times to get it to finally update. Also, notifications dont work as well as gmails - if a message is read on a different device, the notification count should be updated.
Usability issues
Now just crashes. This version is worthless. Hoped Google could do better. Must be short on cash.
Unusable because it is so SLOW!
I love google voice but this app just barely works. I have to wait 10 seconds between each tap in order to not inadvertently do stuff I dont want. Terrible.
still waiting...
The incremental updates are not helping. Why is the response to every tap so slow? There cant be that much data to process. Please bring back favorites and a combined call/msg/vm inbox.
Some Bugs ???
Text messages dont mark as "read" until you back out of the text and go back into the conversation. Voice calls have a noticeable delay from the time you say something to the time your words are heard. Overall this is a great concept. Id rate a five if these two things were all fixed up!
