I read a lot of comments on not being able to send GIFs & (IMO) junk like that. GV has always been a phone app, the text addition is nice, but I use for its (original) primary function as a phone app. As I said, I may edit, Im more inclined to give it a 3 at least, but if it has turned into a text app w/phone fcn secondary, Ill be dropping. It. If you need to send GIFs & junk kind that, LINE & several other apps are more suited for that. Again, IMO!

It takes 10s or even more to load call history, messages, etc. Unacceptable.

Google Voice provides great service, this is a great alternative number to give for those you do not wish to have your number. I would rate five stars if you could sign your own ringtone. Keep up the good work google I left text now to join Google voice.

So I read in AppSupport that GIFS over 2MB I believe will not send. I sent an image from my iPhone via text, its shows it has sent with a time stamp and the person I sent it to has yet to receive it. Should it show as sent of the file is too large? I recommend having an error message occur if an image didnt actually send.

I never used it before because the app was terrible. Now its usable its set up nicely and I use it as my primary phone number. But everything takes forever to load its unresponsive. Every time I read a message and go outta the message I have to go back in and out for it to get marked as read. It just still needs a lot of work till perfect

Such a good App. Solves many of my problems, but unfortunately it is incredible slow and not accurate sometimes.

I just wish g board would be able to post gifs. I wish I could post bitmojis. I wish this app were more customizable. Overall Im really glad Google decided not to give up on Voice, but honestly a bit more effort is needed.

Since the update, the app has been very slow when opening or deleting things. And its now so complicated with multiple places instead of all one inbox. Its only gotten worse with each update.

On balance, Google Voice is superior to Hangouts, esp with its Contacts integration and dialer. Another update, another missed opportunity to make compatible with insertion of Gboard GIFS and pics. After you open a text message, Google Voice will leave it marked unread, requiring you to reopen it to switch its status to read. Other commenters point this out. It took months for an update but no noticeable improvement. Still wont paste GIFs or pics from Gboard into a text. That was my issue, which I and others reported numerous times in the app feedback. Youd think a Google products compatibility with its own keyboard would be a priority, but it isnt. Dev team is AWOL. Still wont copy and paste GIFs. Google Hangouts interfaces horribly with Contacts, but can work with Gboard and paste pics and GIFS, which Google Voice cant. Google Voice can interface terrifically with Contacts, but has the shortcomings listed below. The Valentines Day 2017 update fixed no noticeable problems since the major overhaul of Jan 2017. Fail. Google Voices inability to paste GIFS, and Google Hangouts superior integration with Gmail, led me to switch back to Google Hangouts. Hoping Google Voice will become fully functional.

I can get over not being able to send pics before this last update. But it takes so long for the messages to show in the feed (I get the notification that a new message has come through) but then I spend 2-5 minutes trying to see it in the feed (which makes it hard to talk to clients). I have to refresh so much that I find it faster to forward my messages. (Oh and I turned that feature off last week and its still forwarding to the phones text messages.) :/ how do I get it to stop?

The current GV update is soooo slow to respond and display messages or anything, it drives me crazy. It is also unintuitive. Bring back the old version or fix this piece of garbage!!!

I wish we could have more than 1 number. ??????

Messages are never marked read on the first read. Have to go back several times to the message. Sometimes unread messages are shown as read too

Will not give you a new number until you merge your real number with google voice, giving them full access to everything. And guess what you cant unlink your phone once its done.

Destroyed this app was better before

I have been using Google Voice since inception and the new mobile app is a complete disaster. I have no idea why they redesigned it and actually took features away. Removing favorites from a phone app? Requiring you to type in someones name to dial somebody when I have a contact list in the hundreds? This is such a fail but unfortunately I have given out my Google voice number to hundreds of people so I need to live with it. They should cancel this update and revert back to the original until they can get their shop straight.

Update 3: Be smarter by auto-filling recent recipients when typing in that field (rather than always showing same alpha-ordered matches). Clicking + should take directly to current tabbed function (rather than popping up to pick Message vs Call). After sending a Message, actually show what the user sent (rather than hiding it behind Type a message). Bring back Quick Dial. Add Googles voice to text function. It beats Apples hands down. Update 2: Keeping three stars as bottom "tab" area has subtle notification for e.g. new voicemails. Needs more pronounced look, similar to iOS badge app icons. Update: Three stars now. Like group messages and MMS Google finally added. Still need to fix read/unread status as reading and sometimes even replying to a text often keeps it unread, requiring another "read" to reflect correct status. Original: Like the UI updates. BUT now I have to "archive" ALL messages that were *previously archived* to clear out what used to be the Inbox?? Glad I only updated on test device so normal phone can still have old version that still knows what "Inbox" means.

Why do so many spam calls still come through? And half of them are from Google services!! Come on, people... Im on the National Do Not Call list. Its illegal to spam call me. Also, Messages that I have read dont Mark as read – sometimes I need to open and close the app and click on the message a few times before it marks it as red. This is annoying.
